Counselling in Manchester

About you

What’s no longer working for you?

What do you want more of?

Perhaps you’re here because you’ve been asking yourself these questions and you’re struggling to find your answers. Maybe something just feels…off, and you would like help to untangle what that is.

I work with people who feel that they have lost themselves, they’re not quite sure who they are anymore. This often happens around big life changes, when life can feel unstable. Has a relationship changed or ended and left you feeling unsure of yourself? Maybe you’re still trying to work through a relationship with a parent who you’ve never quite seen eye to eye with? Have you have always been the peacemaker or the strong one in the family and now, you feel tired, and you want to see what it’s like to let go of that role?

Sometimes, we just need someone to listen whilst we unpack our thoughts and feelings about life!

If you are wondering what happens in your first counselling sessions, you can take a look here. Or, if you prefer, you can get in touch and together we can talk through what you might need. Take the first steps towards a life that feels more aligned with who you really are.

About me

I’m Lorna, I’m a working class Black therapist who grew up on a council estate in Manchester. I have been told that I am too much and equally, that I’m not enough. I know what it’s like not to fit in. Maybe you’re feeling this too?

I am a person-centred therapist, which means I will listen, without judgement and I will gently challenge the thoughts and beliefs that may be holding you back. I don’t offer quick fixes or tell you what to do. I truly believe that you already have the answers, maybe they just need a little space to be heard. I offer an intersectional and trauma informed approach, with compassion, always. And sometimes, a touch of humour!

I hold a BA (Hons) from The University of Manchester and a Postgraduate Diploma in Counselling & Psychotherapy from the University of Salford. I have also completed further training in domestic abuse counselling and I have worked with clients at the LGBT Foundation.

About us

My hope is that you’ll be empowered to grow in ways that matter to you. For you to feel supported and safe enough to explore your fears and desires and also, to reconnect with things that are fun to you, the things that make you feel alive (thank you Esther Perel for this important point!)

Life can be hard but you don't have to do it alone.

If you’re wondering whether counselling is for you, you’re welcome to contact me for a free 15 minute chat.
